Now Trending: Birkenstocks & Sliders

On Monday I wrote about the few things I hauled over the past few weeks. But I didn’t tell you about my man hunt… You see when something is trending, there’s a period where you decide whether you like it or not and then you wait a while and then you casually seek out that item and purchase. I decided I loved it in January and was being lazy about buying them, like oh I have time, its all good. Well this was NOT the case for Ms. Birkenstock..

So the other day I went shopping in Soho, no it was more like: I went hunting in Soho. Literally an all out man hunt for a pair of black or all white Birkenstocks. Prior to this, over the last week I spent much of my time cyber stalking every online retailer that carry the shoe and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them were sold out. Asos, Nordstrom, Zappos, Solestruck, Macys, practically every dept. store and especially the Birkenstock site itself are all completely sold out or back ordered for 15-25 days or more (in black or white). So my friend Edomia suggested I go wandering in the smaller shoe stores in SoHo. Of course the first 2 stores I walked in were completely sold out of black and of course white. I feel like the white ones were like looking for a white whale. The sales associates were looking at me like: “Girl that’s a myth”. Finally the 3rd store I walked in, success!!!!! They literally had the only pair left in stock in one size: US 8. There were other women clamoring around me and the sales associate when they saw him come out with my size! “Are there any in a this, are there any in a that?!” And the sales associated replied back with an annoying, calm yo ass down tone: “No, there aren’t any left in any size in any of the colors on the floor”. Lolol. NO but seriously it was madness for these shoes in practically every store I went into to. And for me, the bitter sweet of the whole hunt, the BEST part of it all?! they were on private sale for $50!
