My mom is the most fashionable person I actually know. A lot of what I learned about fashion, I learned from her when I was growing up. I distinctly remember 2 magazines that were always in our mailbox and all over our house: W and Vogue. She was obsessed with editorials, and all I can remember is flipping through the pages saying “this is me!, this is me!”, wanting to be just like those fashionable women who graced the editorial pages. She also used to sew and still does whenever her spirit moves her to. She could look at an editorial and say “I am going to make this” and just like that, she would make it. I remember going to fabric stores with her almost every Saturday as a little girl, combing through catalogs and file cabinets of patterns :-). I wanted to be just like her. Maybe that’s why I actually believed those women in the magazine were me, lol “this is me, this is me”. All because my mom could just look at an editorial and make what was in the pages of Vogue come to life. Wow, just writing that gave me chills.
Recently, she said she noticed that I never really carried a purse on my blog and that as a woman I need to have at least one good, quality, genuine leather bag as a staple. She always had the finest bags and shoes and everyone in our family would always compliment her on her impeccable taste. I remember the first time I met my friend Fash of Lover4Fashion my mom was with me and Fash wanted her bag, she couldn’t believe that she was my mom. So sweet.
She was kind enough to give me this one. She bought it at Saks a few months back and thought it would be perfect for me. And boy was she right. It never leaves my side 🙂 Thanks Mom, I love you.
Aaaaawwww, thanks! love you too
