I love it when someone gets straight to the point when telling me something or providing value in some way. So I will do just that! Also, I checked all prices as of 2020 and they’re around the same as they were in 2017.
How we got there:
Non-stop flight on Delta out of JFK to Cancun Airport (CUN). Then we took a shuttle “Happy Cancun Shuttle” that was $200 roundtrip for 4 of us it was $50/pp roundtrip. The drive was about an hour and a half.
Where we stayed:
Hotel: Papaya Playa Project absolutely gorgeous and peaceful hotel. REAL jungle and nature like vibes. Our phones barely had signal in some parts, it felt nice to get away and be disconnected.
Cost: We paid $279/night for the Cabana Ocean View w/ 2beds (now $263 as of 9/10/2020)
We stayed for 4days and 3 nights. I would highly recommend longer so you have time to relax, go to the cenotes, exploring and anything else you’d like to do. We didn’t want to leave on our last day and had just gotten to know the place and started meeting people and learning of more things to do.
What we did there:
We actually relaxed, lounged, ate and partied one night. Literally that was all. We had plans of doing more, visiting the cenotes, exploring, etc. But once we got to the hotel, it was so tranquil and peaceful that we didn’t really want to do anything other than relax and enjoy the scenery. We had massages which were set up beachside in a little hut facing the ocean. It was nice and relaxing. I had the Swedish massage 50min for $85.
Food:
There are a ton of vegan and vegetarian options. I am a pescatarian so for me the blend of seafood and vegan food was perfect. The hotel itself had a decent variety of options. We had dinner there a night or two, the ambiance and scenery were what brought us back. Oh and the drinks too. Their cocktails were goooood. The taste and quality of the food was decent too. I love flavorful and somewhat spicy foods so for me, it was decent, lol. There are several restaurants that are practically joined on the side or close to the hotel though, with a wider variety. For example,
Honestly I took way more pics but theyr’e on one of my 3 hard drives and after searching endlessly, I can’t find the rest of them at the moment. But If and when I do, I’ll update this post. For now, I just wanted to get this info out there in case anyone would like to go or will be planning a trip to Tulum in the future. Even if you choose a different hotel, I hope at the very least, this post will give you some insight into what to expect or just planning from a general standpoint.
If you didn’t come here from my Tulum girls trip video sure to watch my youtube video on the trip below for more details! Later!
I’ve had Mexico on a wanderlust list for a long time. This looked and sounds amazing!
